Random Ramblings

As I am sure many of you who have been out fishing will have realized, the ocean surface has seen an unusual and unprecedented abundance of seaweed floating in sometimes large patches which are now washing up on shore. Please note that as suspected by many of our members, the recent report in one of our weekend papers about this being an algae commonly known as “ocean sawdust” is indeed erroneous.

We have received confirmation from CERMES that they have been monitoring this phenomena for a couple of weeks and the seaweed in question is indeed Sargassum as identified by us and not the oceanic algae “sawdust” that we commonly find in current rips.
